Sue Shinomiya, MBA, President and Founder of Global Business Passport

For over 20 years, my passion has been in connecting people across culture and differences. I work with mostly Fortune 500 corporations who are struggling to compete and succeed in an increasingly complex, diverse, multicultural and geographically-disbursed business environment.

For my clients, the goal is to lead effectively in a global environment to build stronger, more collaborative connections between people of different cultures, mindsets and backgrounds, to achieve results while retaining mutual respect. We have the technology to connect around the planet, 24/7 – now we need to develop the human skill set to make the most of our collaborative technology and global economic opportunity.

My work history includes 10 years in Asia, mostly in Japan, including six years as an on-site consultant and contractor for Intel Japan, KK in Tsukuba Japan, as an on-site program manager for the Clarke Consulting Group. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area in California, I’ve also lived in Washington, D.C., and am currently based in Portland, Oregon, USA.

At Portland State University, I inspire the next generation of mindful, culturally competent global business leaders as an Adjunct Faculty Member at their one-of-a-kind Master of International Management program. As a member of the Board of Directors of my professional Society: The Society of Intercultural Education Training and Research (SIETAR-USA), I lead a global, diverse and geographically-dispersed team of intercultural and diversity and inclusion professionals.

Outside of my work, you will find me learning about cultures and connecting with people through travel, hiking and photography, having traveled to 49 of the 50 United States and 34 countries and counting.
